A cavity, chipped tooth, or worn filling can affect how comfortably you eat and how confidently you smile. At Houston Precise Dental Care, we provide dental fillings and restorations to repair damaged teeth while preserving healthy tooth structure whenever possible. Our team helps you understand your options and choose care that fits your needs.
Tooth damage is not always painful. Regular dental exams help us identify decay and check existing restorations before problems become more extensive. Schedule an evaluation if you notice:
We offer tooth-colored fillings made from composite resin, which can be matched to the shade of your natural teeth. These fillings are often appropriate for small to moderate cavities and can be used on front or back teeth.
After removing the decayed tissue, we place and shape the filling to restore the tooth’s contour. Composite bonds to the tooth, allowing us to preserve healthy structure where possible. We consider the cavity’s size and location, along with your bite, when recommending a filling material.
Some teeth need more support than a filling can provide. At our Houston office, we also offer inlays, onlays, and dental crowns. An inlay fits within the chewing surface, while an onlay covers one or more raised points of the tooth. A crown covers the visible portion of a more extensively weakened or damaged tooth.
We recommend a restoration based on the remaining tooth structure and the extent of damage. If decay reaches the tooth’s pulp, additional treatment may be necessary before the tooth is restored.
We begin with an examination and take dental X-rays when needed to assess the problem. Before treatment, we explain our findings, discuss appropriate options, and answer your questions.
For a filling, we numb the area as needed, remove decay, and place the restorative material. We then check your bite and polish the filling. Inlays, onlays, and crowns may require separate visits for preparation and placement.
Brush twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, clean between your teeth each day, and maintain regular dental visits. Restored teeth can still develop decay, and fillings and crowns may eventually need repair or replacement. Let us know if you notice a change in your bite, persistent sensitivity, or damage to a restoration.
